JOHN WOOD’S RETIREMENT PARTY
John Wood finally retired from working full time at Intexma (Cape) CC on 28 February
2009.
Forty years after establishing Intexma (Cape) CC in Cape Town, and fifty five years of
involvement in the Textile Industry, John decided to step aside and let the new blood
continue with the legacy.
John, as always the party man, had an end February 2009 farewell luncheon for over 80
local clients to thank them all for the support given to him and Intexma over the last
40 years.
Kobus Bekker has taken over Intexma (Cape) CC in Cape Town as from 1 March 2009.
He is a fully qualified South African Mechanical Engineer and spent several years as
Plant Engineer at Consol Glass, PET Extrusion Factories and finally at a paper printing
factory before joining Illies/Erex where he spent five years selling textile and plastic
industrial capital equipment, before joining Intexma Cape CC approximately two years ago.
Kobus has become well-acquainted with the local clients and machinery suppliers over this time.
The almost ten years co-operation between Intexma (Cape) CC in Cape Town and Texmate Textiles
(Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg and Natal, will continue as in the past.
John wishes his ex partners Peter Grigoratos, Andy Patterson and Kobus Bekker every success
for the future.

ITMA ASIA & CITME 27 - 31 JULY
was held in China at the Shanghai New International Expo Center
John Wood from Intexma Cape cc, Peter Grigoratos and Andrew Patterson from Texmate Textiles visited Shanghai to attend this textile machinery trade show, which was held for the first time in Shanghai (previous editions of the show having been held in Singapore in 2001 and 2005).
Despite the Chinese Government placing onerous restrictions on applications for business Visas (presumably due to the forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing), a large number of international delegates attended this textile machinery showpiece, which was held for the first time in collaboration with CITME (Chinese International Textile Machinery Exhibition).
Several of our Principals reported serious interest in their latest technologies and it is to be hoped that these enquiries shall lead to firm orders despite present worldwide downturn in business caused primarily by the sub-prime mortgage crisis in the U.S.A.
