ABOUT US

Texmate Textiles was founded and registered on 1st September 2000 with offices in Johannesburg and Durban. The company is owned and run by Andrew Patterson and Peter Grigoratos.

The partners have extensive experience in servicing the needs of the Southern African textile industry, having been involved with leading textile agencies over a total period exceeding 65 years.

John Wood B.Com
John studied weaving part-time for five years at Bradford Technical College. After two years training at spinning and weaving mills in the UK, he spent six years selling yarns and fabrics in the UK, West Africa and South Africa. For the last thirty eight years he has been selling textile machinery in South Africa.

He is now acting as a Consultant to Intexma Cape cc

Interests: golf, skiing, travelling and wine farms.

Andrew Patterson B.Sc, ATI
Andy was born in Oldham, England, and worked in the spinning industry in Northern England before attending Leeds University, where he graduated in 1982 with a B.Sc degree in Textile Process Engineering. He was awarded Associateship of the Textile Industry (ATI) in 1988.

After arriving in South Africa in January 1984, he was employed by an Anglovaal-owned textile company in Johannesburg. Andy then went to Durban in September 1986, to commence employment with a leading textile machine agency, specialising in capital sales, primarily to the local spinning, weaving, non-woven and finishing sectors of the industry. He worked for the company for fourteen years, after which he founded Texmate Textiles, in conjunction with Peter Grigoratos and John Wood.

Andy is a keen athlete and has completed eleven Comrades Marathons and eleven Two Oceans Marathons, as well as many other competitive races too numerous to mention.

Lawrie Scott LTI
Lawrie finally retired at the end of ITMA MUNICH 2007 after over 20 very productive years with INTEXMA Cape Town. Our best wishes are extended to Lawrie on his retirement and thank him sincerely for his tremendous contribution to the Company.

Peter Grigoratos
Peter went to school at Parktown Boys High School, Johannesburg, then studied Textiles at Leicester Polytechnic in the UK, obtaining a Higher National Diploma in Textile and Knitwear Technology. After six years industrial experience mainly in the knitting industry he moved to a prominent South African textile machinery agency, where he spent twenty years selling machines, raw materials and accessories to all facets of the textile industry, as well as forming part of the senior management team.

He was a founding partner and shareholder of Texmate Textiles (Pty) Ltd in September 2000. His interests include wildlife and nature conservation, deep sea game fishing, following sport (especially rugby), reading biographies and classical music. Favourite foods are pasta, pizza and red wine!

Kobus Bekker
Kobus attended Benoni Technical High School and started his career at Sappi Fine Papers. He studied at the Springs Technical College qualifying as a Mechanical Engineer. Kobus joined Intexma-Cape at the beginning of 2007 after Lawrie Scott retired. He is responsible for sales and support of Spinning, Weaving, Non-wovens, braiding and finishing to the Eastern and Western Cape customers. Previously Kobus worked at Ilies/Erex where he gained love and experience for the Textile industry. Kobus also forms part of the senior management team.

He is a keen supporter of swimming and lifesaving as both his children excel in these sports. Other interest include rugby, wildlife and the outdoors with his family and friends.
